PHIUS Online Hootenanny and Design Competition 2020

Join us for the 2020 PHIUS Hootenannies, Design Competition Awards Ceremony and Virtual Party–and Support NOMA!

For the past 14 years, the PHIUS Annual North American Passive House Conference brings together passive building leaders to share experiences, lessons learned, and an overall good time. Alas, it isn’t possible to be together in the flesh this year (we’re still hopeful for 2021, stay tuned).

But, we can still get together for one of the most popular features of the conference: Hootenannies!

Every year these sessions, organized by profession, provide a forum for short presentations followed by freewheeling discussion and Q&A. We’re taking it online this year starting Monday, October 26. Here’s the rundown:

About I-NOMA

The Illinois Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (I-NOMA) creates a platform of inclusion and growth to support all minority designers as defined by ethnicity, gender, religion and sexual orientation. Our programming stems from two initiatives: Project Pipeline & Professional Development.

Professional Development

With a focus on mentorship, continuing education, and developing minority leaders within our industry, programming under this initiative includes construction site tours, networking events, continuing education seminars, and the recently launched Legacy Map, to document contributions of minority architects in Illinois.

Project Pipeline

Our Project Pipeline programming is developed to empower under-served and under-represented young people to affect change in their communities through design. After an initial introduction to design, which can take place as early as elementary school, the Pipeline continues to support and mentor students and young professionals as they matriculate through the rigors of becoming a licensed architect.

Most sessions earn AIA and PHIUS CPHC® CEU credits.
